Avery J. Knapp Jr., M.D.

American Board of Radiology

Board Certified June 2008, continuous

Board Certified in Diagnostic Radiology and Fellowship Trained in Neuroradiology, Dr. Avery J. Knapp, Jr. has been actively practicing since 2008. Dr. Knapp received his Bachelors of Liberal Arts and Medical Degree at the University of Missouri – Kansas City’s 6-year combined degree program. This accelerated, dual-degree 6-year program is one of only three in the nation. He completed his internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, IL, and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at The Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He was selected as Chief Resident in Radiology at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Knapp then completed Neuroradiology fellowship training at Harbor-UCLA.

Dr. Knapp previously worked as partner radiologist at Sparks Hospital in Arkansas from 2010-2013, and currently works as a radiologist for radiology centers across the United States and Puerto Rico. Presently, Dr. Knapp maintains 47 active licenses and growing.

Dr. Knapp performs full-time radiology duties including the interpretation of MRI, CT, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine testing. Subspecializing in injuries and disorders of the brain and spine, with a particular interest in trauma-related radiology, Dr. Knapp is also available for expert radiology consultation, review of studies, medical records, and testimony in trials and depositions.

Flora Stepansky, M.D.

Dr. Stepansky obtained her undergraduate degree from New York University and graduated AOA from New York Medical College. She completed radiology residency at New York University and went on to fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Radiology with Dr. David Stoller at the National Orthopedic Imaging Associates where she gained expertise in Sports Medicine MRI. Dr. Stepansky is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology. She currently lives in the Bay Area with her husband and in her spare time enjoys travel and photography.

Luke R. Scalcione, M.D.

Board Certified July 2011

Dr. Scalcione received his undergraduate degree from New York University, where he graduated with honors. He completed his medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He finished an internship in General Surgery at the North Shore-LIJ Health System in NY and a residency in Radiology at Winthrop-University Hospital where he was chief resident. Dr. Scalcione completed his subspecialty training in Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of California San Diego where he trained with world-renowned Dr. Donald Resnick. Prior to joining IGT, Dr. Scalcione worked as an academic musculoskeletal radiologist at the University of Arizona for over 2 years in which he published many papers on topics in Musculoskeletal Radiology and Orthopedics.

Darren Buono, M.D.

American Board of Radiology

Board Certified June 2007

Dr. Buono received a BS in Psychology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey where he was a Varsity Letter winner, school record holder, and NCAA Academic All American in swimming. 

Dr. Buono attended medical school at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School where he graduated at the top of his medical school class and was a junior inductee into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. 

He completed his Internship Year at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA focusing on surgery subspecialties. Following his internship, Dr. Buono completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of California, San Diego under William G. Bradley M.D., PhD., Chairman. During his residency, he completed an intensive 4 month mini-fellowship in Neuroradiology. Continuing his training at the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Buono completed an additional 1 year fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology/MRI under the tutelage of Donald Resnick, M.D. 

After completing fellowship, Dr. Buono joined a private practice radiology group in Tampa, Florida, where he was a partner and attending physician at St. Joseph’s Hospital, a level II trauma center, and one of the busiest Emergency Departments by volume in the country. 

During Dr. Buono’s career, he has interpreted and/or consulted on MRI and imaging studies on professional athletes from Major League Baseball, NFL, NBA, and the NHL. His clinical interests include MRI, Spine and Brain Imaging, and Orthopedic Imaging with special interest in MRI of Spine and Extremity Injuries. Dr. Buono has vast experience in Trauma and Emergency Radiology as well as Oncology imaging, Head and Neck imaging, and Urologic imaging. Dr. Buono has additional experience in Utilization Review and Peer Review. He has acted as a medical director for outpatient imaging centers and teleradiology companies.

Richard A. Sarner, M.D.

David R. Priest, M.D.

Dr. Priest has subspecialty expertise in Neuroradiology and specializes in Adult and Pediatric Neuroradiology, as well as head, neck and ophthalmologic imaging.

After he obtained his undergraduate degree at Harvard University, and his medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School, he served as Chief Resident during his radiology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard Medical School.

He then completed a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of California San Francisco. He is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and has been awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Neuroradiology.

Dr. Priest lives in San Francisco and enjoys travel, having visited over 80 countries.
