All patients will be asked basic screening questions to ensure they can have an MRI performed safely. If you are unable to perform an MRI for some reason, you will be made aware during the scheduling process.

Does BodyView use radiation during the exam?

BodyView MRI is free of radiation and contrast and is a non-invasive procedure.

How long does the procedure take?

The scan itself takes anywhere between 40-60 minutes to complete. It will be divided into several short sequences and your Technologist will communicate with you throughout the process to let you know what to expect and to ensure that you are comfortable.

Is it uncomfortable?

For most people, having an MRI is not uncomfortable. We provide blankets, eye masks, music, and comfort techniques throughout the exam

Will BodyView include images of my heart?

BodyView does not image your heart. In some locations, CT may be available if you wish to have additional preventive imaging of your heart.

Is BodyView covered by insurance?

No. It is an elective, preventive scan that insurance will not cover. However, you may be able to utilize an HSA spending account if your employer allows it.

Will the scan identify cancer?

It can detect abnormalities or masses that may require further follow-up. We provide a detailed report and images that you can review and share with your physician and/or specialist.

What if something shows up on my scan?

Early detection and diagnosis can be life-changing and even life-saving. If something shows up, you should consult your primary care physician or specialist to identify next steps.

How often should I be scanned?

Once per year is ideal for baseline and tracking of any changes in your health. Frequency may vary depending on your individual health goals and/or findings.

Are there any size or weight restrictions for BodyView?

Our wide bore machines are large enough for most patients to fit comfortably with a weight limit of 550 pounds.
